An intervention

With this work I became interested in how banal places have an inherent eeriness to them, particularly a natural environment where something occurs clear explanation.

The shapes seem like spontaneous manifestations or could be seen as acts of natural graffiti that evoke passage through a place as part of a visibly repeated process, and is also a way of redacting the environment.

Influences include the film Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky, where the background eeriness, much like radiation, permeates yet remains invisible until its effects are made clear; the books Edgelands by Paul Farley and Michael Symmons Roberts. Feral by George Monbiot about rewilding a natural environment already over-farmed and over-controlled.

A patchwork of hidden properties and dimensions in a space needs an intervention to be noticed or even exist. A hidden cause-effect scenario; an unseen animal darting through the undergrowth.
